In-School & Community Partnerships

Math Corps continues to partner with schools, districts, and community organizations in order to serve as many students as possible. While these partnerships often take the form of schools and community organizations contracting with the Math Corps to provide math education services, they invariable reflect the organizations’ shared commitments to helping every student realize their unique greatness and providing the lifetime and educational opportunities that all students deserve.
In Detroit, these Math Corps partners include:

  • Downtown Boxing Gym
  • James and Grace Lee Boggs School
  • Detroit Public Schools

Math Corps’ in-schools partnerships have shown tremendous success. In 2010, Math Corps was asked to assume responsibility for the development and operation of the mathematics program at Detroit Edison Public School Academy – Early College of Excellence. The program used the Math Corps’ curriculum and was informed by its philosophy, principles, and practices. Math Corps followed DEPSA’s first freshman class for four years, building the program one grade-level at a time. In 2013, that first cohort of 90 students took the Michigan Merit Exam. Out of 121 schools in Wayne County, DEPSA-ECE ranked eleventh, right behind Grosse Pointe North.
