We have exciting news!! The WSU Math Corps’ Winter Super Saturdays program will begin on January 23, 2021. We will run the program virtually using Zoom and Google Classroom. As always, we anticipate that this program will be helpful, challenging and a lot of fun! All students who have previously participated in the WSU Math Corps Summer Program are invited to apply!
This year’s Super Saturdays Program will take place on the following dates: January 16th (Middle School Student Orientation/High School Student Training), January 23rd, January 30th, February 6th, 13th, 27th, March 6th, 13th, 27th, and April 10th. All Saturday sessions will be held virtually and will run from 9:30am – 12:30pm.
Returning Middle School Students: Please note that availability in this program is limited and students will be accepted on a rolling basis (first come-first serve). To participate in this year’s Winter Super Saturdays Program, you should complete the application through the k-12.wayne.edu website. You will need to provide a copy of your November 2020 Report Card. To participate, middle school students should have their application completed by Wednesday, December 16, 2020 by 5pm.
Returning High School Students: Returning high school students can apply to work as Teaching Assistants (TAs) or Program Assistants (PAs). As a TA in this program, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring middle school students, as well as training a 9th grade intern. As a PA in this program, you will be given the opportunity to practice math skills as well as teach and mentor middle school students in the afternoon. The selection process will be competitive, with students being selected based on their past performance as a TA/PA, their grade point average, and their mathematics background. All TAs will be paid a stipend for the 9-week program.
To apply, complete an application through the k-12.wayne.edu website. You will need to provide a copy of your November 2020 Report Card and a 100-word essay on why you would like to work and study in the Winter Super Saturday Program. The deadline to apply is Friday, December 11, 2020 by 5pm.
